Le mal du pays comme muse ou: le mal de la langue d’Elsa Triolet, précurseure d’une écriture transnationale transgressive

Abstract
Questo contributo si concentra sulla scrittrice francese translingue Elsa Triolet che, pur non essendo mai stata dimenticata, rimane nell’ombra del grande Louis Aragon. L’articolo analizza in particolare Écoutez-voir (1968) e La mise en mots (1969), le ultime opere dell’autrice che hanno segnato una svolta nella sua produzione letteraria. L’esempio di questi due lavori mostrerà come l’esperienza a volte dolorosa della nostalgia, della lingua e dell’estraneità si trasformi in una forza creativa e quindi, come lo studio della letteratura della sua patria abbandonata, diventi una fonte di ispirazione senza precedenti per la sua creazione estetica. Mostreremo come Triolet, con la sua scrittura iconotestuale, finisca per sviluppare una forma di scrittura sperimentale che, attingendo all’avanguardia russa, supera il surrealismo francese trascendendo i confini dei generi, delle lingue e delle memorie visive nazionali.

Abstract
This article focuses on the French translingual writer Elsa Triolet, who, although never forgotten, remains in the shadow of the great Louis Aragon. The article focuses on Écoutez-voir (1968) and La mise en mots (1969), the author’s late works, which mark a turning point in her literary production. These two works will be used to show how the painful experience of homesickness, language and foreignness becomes a creative force and thus, like the study of the literature of her abandoned homeland, an unprecedented source of inspiration for her aesthetic creation. I will show how Triolet’s icono-textual writing eventually developed into an experimental form of writing that, drawing on the Russian avant-garde, went beyond French Surrealism by transcending the boundaries of genre, language, and national visual memory.
