Abstract
La promesse de l’aube si apre e si chiude con una frase che limita l’orizzonte allargato dal titolo: c’est fini è infatti intensificato da tout est dit. Il qui e ora scandisce la narrazione e l’umorismo offusca l’atroce verità di una vita infelice. Quando la delusione del presente risulta vincente, la storia del passato può rappresentare una dignitosa via d’uscita, il grido di un uomo ferito che non vi ha rinunciato. Di fronte alla vita che finisce nella disillusione e alla Francia che ha perso la sua grandezza, non gli resta che chiudere gli occhi e tornare alla vita e alla lingua che lo hanno fatto sognare, e poi a quella promessa impossibile e sublime: La promesse de l’aube.
Vorrei analizzare questo libro concentrandomi su tre aspetti: il peso della verità biografica, la funzione dell’eroizzazione e la mitizzazione di un Paese come la Francia.

Abstract
La promesse de l’aube begins and ends with a sentence that limits the horizon opened by the title: it’s over, doubled by everything is said. Here and now provides the rhythm of the story, and humour blurs the atrocious truth of an unhappy life. When the disappointment of the present wins out, the tale of the past can represent an honourable way out, the cry of a wounded man who hasn’t given up everything. Faced with a life that is ending in disillusionment, with a France that has lost its greatness, all that remains is for him to close his eyes and return to that other life and that language that made him dream, and then to that impossible and wonderful promise: La promesse de l’aube.
I would like to read this book by focusing on three aspects: the role of biographical truth, the function of heroization and the mythologizing of a real country such as France.
