Le théâtre et le livre. Gli stampatori normanni e le loro pubblicazioni teatrali sotto il regno di Henri IV

Abstract. L’articolo delinea un quadro generale dei principali stampatori della Normandia che hanno pubblicato libri di teatro, in particolare tragedie, tra la fine del XVI e il primo decennio del XVII secolo, all’epoca di Henri IV. La ricerca si è focalizzata su due imprimeurs-libraires: Raphaël Du Petit Val, stampatore di Rouen, e Françoise Thomas, vedova dell’editore Jacques Le Bas di Caen. Di entrambi vengono analizzate le caratteristiche della produzione libraria, gli autori e le opere pubblicate, le marche tipografiche utilizzate, il formato dei libri e gli eventuali privilegi accordati dal re di Francia.

Abstract. The article provides a general overview of the main printers in Normandy who published books on the theatre, especially tragedies, between the end of the 16th century and the first decade of the 17th century, at the time of Henri IV. The research focuses on two imprimeurs-libraires: Raphaël Du Petit Val, a printer from Rouen, and Françoise Thomas, widow of the publisher Jacques Le Bas from Caen. The characteristics of both book production, authors and published works, typographical devices used, the format of the books and any privileges granted by the King of France are analysed.
